Hello, I am 28 years of age, 5 5 and my weight is 159. I remove my IUD in Sept. 2010 and had a miscarriage in Janauary 2011. I having been having lower abdominal pain on my right side, along with lower back pain on the same side for a month now. I have been to the doctor and ER as well. Once in the ER an ultrasound was order which they informed me I have calcification on my uterus. They discharged me to follow up with a gyn, and I just took a home pregnancy test and discovered I am pregnant. I am also pending an appointment for a ct scan. My doctor informed me that my cyst was not bigger enough to cause so much severe pain. Could the calcification effect my pregnancy? Should I still get the CT Scan done as well, how will it effect the pregnancy? Any assistance would be greatly appreciate it.
Hi dear, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Calcification can be due to many causes like old hemorrhage, infection. It is not likely to effect the current pregnancy. It is not advisable for you to get a CT scan done, as its involves high radiation dose which adversely affects the fetus. Hope you found the answer helpful. Wishing you good health. Dr Deepti Verma
