Does Cardace Cause Severe Cough? What Is Repace 25 Used For?

Hi Doctor, My dad suffering cardiomyopathy ( Has enlarged heart). recently he has been suffering severe cough. When visted our family Physician he replaced cardace by repace 25. May I know what is repace used for please? Does cardace cause severe cough?

Dear patient,

Thannks for the query. Both Cardace and Repace are used to help weak hearts pump more efficiently and prevent long term complications of cardiomyapathy; they are heart failure medications. Cardace can cause cough in 1 out of every 5 patients; when that happens we substitute it by Repace or an analogue, which is a cousin with the same action but lacks such side effect.
