my left eye glazed over and i had reduced vision for about a minute. this happened about 6 times in approx. two years at random. one time however there was no vision at all for about 30 seconds. i have seen a opthalmologist and everything appparently was fine. he advised me to have my lipid profile checked along with bp and sugar which is well within normal limits. he now suggested i visit a cardio specilist and explain this problem and see what he says. should i? does a cardio pronlem reflect in the eye?
Your ophthalmologist is absolutely right in suggesting you to get a cardiovascular check up done. Reduced blood flow through arteries can occur in all the vessels in the body but can be visualised in the eye alone.Since you ave been having multiple episodes of transient loss of vision, it shows that there was reduced blood flow through the retinal arteries. Similarly other arteries in the body could also be having such reduced blood flow. A thorough cardiovascular check up should help . You may need a carotid doppler scan,ECG/ECHO, apart from blood investigations.
How you know about left eye vision unless you close right eye. However you ge t complete eye examination and general health checkup. Only hypoxia can lead to trans eat loss of vision. Get BP checked. exclude diabetes. Get your hemogram done. now if analyzed by a doctor the cause can be established
