Does Coming Off Prednisone Cause Loss Of Voice?

I'm a performer and staring in a play right now. I got a cold that caused post nasal drip and a big cough for two nights. I lost my voice completely! My doctor offered Prednisone so I might get by. But what happens when I stop taking it? Will I go back to being voiceless? I doubt my throat has healed in a day from coughing.
