Does Continued Intake Of Zolfresh Have Any Side Effects?

I am 67 years old and have been prescribed Zolefrsh 10 mg. I am taking the medicine for about four months and appear to have overcome my sleeping problem. But without this I cannot sleep. Is there any side effect of the medicine ? if so please elucidate and suggest some alternative. I am a dibetic and on insuline/Bp medicines.

Hi thanks for asking question.
Zolpidem can lead to headche, resipartory depression, cns depression , diarrhea, altered tought pattern,vommiting, anterograde amnesia etc. on long term use according to few study.
It has no dependence tendency.On withdrawal it can only lead to headache, dizziness like symptoms.
It is safe drug.
But it is use for short term insomnia.It can lead above side effect on long term use.So it is not permenant solution.
Do regular exercise , take heavy night meal, take milk at night , go to sleep before 12 pm.etc.With these measures try to get sleep without drug.
