Does Dark Chocolate Consumption Cause Dark Brown Stool?
I eat dark chocalate candy every day. It may be one or two pieces and sometimes more. If I eat ice cream it will always be peanut butter chocalate fudge. As you can see I love chocalate anything. My stool color is the color of dark chocalate. Could that be the reason for the dark brown stool that I am concernd about?
Yes, definitely dark brown stools may be caused by dark colored food and chocolate is one of the main culprit. However, it may also be caused by taking food rich in iron, taking iron supplements, due to constipation etc. The presence of blood may also be a cause of dark brown stools and whenever it is suspected, the cause should be definitely investigated for.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
