Does Decrease In The Levothyroxine Dosage Cause Side Effects After Thyroid Removal?

I had my entire thyroid removed because of non cancerous nodules. I have been on levothyroxin 125 mg for about 2 years. New blood work had my doctor lower my prescription to 112 mg. My questions are what changed to lower this, is the lesser dosage going to make me feel even lazier than I have become, and is there any health foods to counteract the lack of energy?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

If TSH level is decreased below 0.1 means then there's is a need to lower the thyroxine dosage. But if symptomatically there's is no improvement means need to consult your physician/endocrinologist he will increase the dose and see. He will also check for other possible causes like anemia, UTI or viral infection etc. Please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
