Does Degenerative Disc Disease Cause Metallic Taste In My Mouth?

I've recently been diagnosed with degenerative disc disease. I'm 46, female and in otherwise great shape. I've also developed a metallic taste in my mouth, which seems to go with my neck pain. Is there any possible connection between DDD and the metallic taste?
