Does Difficulty In Bending A Cut Thumb Need MRI Scan Investigation?

Hello
I have a problem with my thumb, I cut it accidentally about 2 weeks ago and now I can't fold it well. I visited a doctor and he said I need to do a MRI and probably I hurt my tendon. I want to know is it really necessary? and what if I dont do anything about it. will it be eventually healed?

welcome to Health care magic.
1.Normally for the fractures and dislocations x-ray is enough.
2.But coming to tendon, nerve, cartilage and joint space are not seen on x-ray, so MRI will help in better visualisation of the anatomical structures.
3.No if it is a tendon tear, it may need repair, with out that you may heal but not functionally.
4.So go with your doctors suggestion, it is necessary, any one will do the same.
5.Better get treated before it gets complicated.
Hope it helps you. Wish you a good health.
