Does Elevated AST And ALT Levels In Blood Need AFP Tumor Markers And HEP C Tests?

SLIGHTLY ELEVATED AST AN ALT. ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION WAS OUT OF CONTROL. AST WAS 46 AND ALT 71. MY PHYSICIAN HAS ORDERED AFP TUMOR MARKERS, HEP C. WITH THAT SLIGHT INCREASE AND NO OTHER OUT OF RANGE LAB DO YOU THINK THOSE TESTS ARE WARRENTED. I HAVE COMPLETELY STOPPED DRINKING. IT IS SPORATIC AT BEST. THANK YOU

Dear Patient,

if those tests are "needed" depends on what kind of security you want to rule out any serious conditions like hepatitis or livercancer. If you were my patient i would do the same thing to be on the safe side. I would also do an ultrasound of the abdominal organs to see if the liver has sclerosis or is still in a reversible state like fatty liver. So i tink the tests your md is running make a lot of sense. Hope this is helping you , if you have any clarificatons you can get back to me, if this was helpful please kindly rate my answer. Best regards
