Does Emergency Contraceptive Tablets Effect Menstrual Cycle?

(how) does the use of emergency contraception change the following cycle?
I took EC on day 20 of my cycle and got my period 6 days later. then i had unprotected sex on day 16 of the next cycle and was unable to get EC. My cycle is usually 24-26 days long. On day 24 no period. I am wondering about the possibility of my taking EC to have affected my ovulation date and hence my chances of becoming pregnant...

Hi,

Yes. An emergency contraceptive acts by postponing ovulation. Thus prevents pregnancy in the cycles. Menstrual cycles are also delayed by 6-10 days in following cycle. This is due to shifted ovulation. In such case you do have chance to conceive in later month.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
