Does Exposed Jaw Bone After Tooth Extraction Lead To Complications?

hi i had a tooth extraction 10 days ago, and i have part of my skull exposed. i am not sure if this is normal or what the options are that i will have in the future. the pain is intense and i am not healed properly. has this ever happened before? is it common for the jaw bone to be exposed?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain if after 1O days also the socket is not healed and the jaw bone seems exposed it is a clear case of DRY SOCKET..
As you must have lost the blood clot during the initial days which is responsible for initiation and progression of healing there is a raw unhealed socket left and the bone is also exposed..
It is a commonly occuring condition and you need not to worry as it can be very well treated..
You should consult your dentist and get evaluated. In case of dry socket the dentist will irrigate the socket with hydrogen peroxide, betadine and saline and pu a Zinc oxide eugenol dressing in it {which is made by coating a paste of zinc oxide eugenol on a sterile piece of gauze], the dressing has to be every alternate day untill the healing takes place..
For pain anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen 4O mg thrice daily can be given and a course of antibiotics like Amoxicillin 5OO mg three times a day can be given for preventing infection..
In case of severe pain Tramadol [Ultram] can be taken..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
