Does Exposure To Loud Noise Cause Hearing Loss In A Ear?

I was working out at the gym. I was doing my heavy sets and didn t realised that my earphones volume was high. I came back home m, took shower, watched a movie. (Up till that point my ear was NORMAL). I slept and after I woke up in the morning I realised that I wasn t able to hear with my right ear anymore! I went to the doctor she said that it is temporary and is due to loud noise! She said it should be fine in 1 week or so !! But I m not sure if what she said is completely right !! I want some feed back please !

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Transient changes in cochlea and hair cells do occur after exposure to high volume noise and responsible for hearing loss for a varying period of time. As per narration by your ENT specialist, it will take a period of 5-7 days for the return of normal previous pattern of hearing. So do not hesitate and wait for the time to reveal the results.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
