Does Fever, Tiredness, Heavy Legs And Chills Need Medical Attention?
My husband and I are on vacation in Greece. We have been in the sun quite a bit, swimming as well as walking. Today, we were on the beach for about 1 1/2 hours. We swam and he lay in the sun for about 45 minutes. We left, he felt really tired, heavy legs and needed to lie down-also a bit of chills. Two hours later, he had a fever of 103 (39.48 C) . We have gotten it down to 38 C (with vinegar sicks and cold compresses) and he says he now feels well. Do we need to follow up on this with a doctor? He is 55 years old and otherwise healthy, except for a disc in his neck which is pressing on a nerve. He is taking anti-inflammatories for this. Could this contribute? Thank you for advice
If he is currently feeling better and there are no additional concerning symptoms, then he can monitor for now.
If the fever recurs and there are no other significant symptoms then he can continue using the anti inflammatory medication to help control his temperature.
It is possible his symptoms are related to a viral illness such as the common cold. If he notices any cough or cold symptoms then he can use some over the counter cold medications.
I hope this helps
