Does Fibroadenosis Affect Elderly Women?

Hi, I,m 51 yrs old and awaiting breast biopsy result after something showed up on mammogram and ultrasound. Not sure what it was, the radiologist mentioned it could be fibroidadenosis (think that is how it s spelt) or an enlarged lymph node but not 100% sure. My question is can you get fibroidadenosis at 51 thought it was more in younger women

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Fibroadenosis is a benign (non-cancerous) disease and it arises due to hormonal imbalances. Nothing much to worry as it is an easily curable condition. Consult a general surgeon and he will direct you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
