Does Forehead Swelling Caused By A Wasp Bite Spread To The Face And Throat?
My 13 year old son was bitten on the forehead by a wasp around 4:30 pm best. E y estate and face are swollen but no problem breathing. Will swelling move down face to throat etc? He fell asleep after benadryl. Should I be waking him to give him more?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It looks like there is a significant allergic reaction to the bite, however it looks localised reaction and chances of spreading are less.. As he is asleep you need not to worry just keep a check on him to see if the swelling is increasing or decreasing. If at all you see any increase or spread of swelling then you should give him another dose of benadryl. Also consult an Emergency room and get him checked if he needs a steroid shot if at all swelling increases.. For now keep a watch over him and do not worry..
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Honey Arora
