Does Generic Simvastatin Cause Memory Loss?

My husband is on the generic simvavastin and we just read an article saying that it can cause memory loss. His memory has been getting worse this past year (he s 80), and he wants to stop taking the medicine to see if his memory will improve. Would this stoppage cause his chloresterol to rise? He has no problems with his heart.

hi mam, simvastatin has got memory loss as its adverse effect but its very rare.past 70yrs,generally memory fades.as you have noticed it with the use of simvastatin,he can stop it and can take any alternative like rosuvastatin.as he has no heart issues, its not a mandatory drug.cholesterol levels will not rise to alarmingly high levels.still you can have rosuvastatin to keep cholesterol in control.hope my answer has cleared your doubt.other issues if any, please let me know.thank you.take care.bye.
