Does Having Diarrhea Post Intake Of Contraceptive Pill Affect Its Effectiveness?

hi! I had sex around 9pm and the condom broke up. so I took the morning after pill 16h later. I have two questions: 1- does having diarrhea mean that the morning after pill worked or it s just a side effect? 2- I have an BMI a little above 30 (32 too be exact) and I read that the MAP is 4 times less effective on girls with a BMI above 30. should I take another pill? what should I do? Thank you for your time

Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
Diarrhea after use of MAP is a well known side effect. However, it does not affect its efficiency if the drug is taken in time, that is, within 72hours of sex.MAP has been known to be less effective in obese women with the risk of failure being about 3 times greater than for non-obese women. You may double the dose as per some authors even though effectiveness is still to be proven. You will however have to observe for pregnancy signs or run a pregnancy test if you miss your period.
The best contraceptive for obese women however remains intrauterine device.I will suggest you consider this later if you need a sure contraceptive method since it is 99% efficient.
Hope my answer will help you
