Hi,
Welcome to Healthcare magic.
I am Dr Ramadevi Wani. I will be answering your concerns today.
On which day of period bleeding did you start the
Althea pills? The right answer depends on this information.
If you have started the pill within first five days of period bleeding, you are protected right away. In this case there is no reason to worry. You only need to take the pills correctly at the right time.
If you have started the pill after the first five days of period bleeding, then you are not protected ( you are protected only after taking the pills for 7 days). In this scenario there is a possibility of
pregnancy. So it would be safer for you to take emergency
contraception like
Plan B immediately.
Emergency contraception has maximum effect if taken within 24 hours of
unprotected intercourse. But it is effective to some extent ( 60% effective) if taken within 5 days from the day of unprotected intercourse. So please do take it.
I hope this is helpful.
If you have further concerns, I will be happy to answer.
Best wishes,
Dr Rama
