Does Having Severe Diarrhea Cause Periods To Delay?

Hey,
Im on the pill, ive finished the course on monday 14th and i usually get it withing a couple of days however i haven't this month. Im over a week late. I was late a couple of times taking my pill which was stupid. I had all the pains of getting my period a few days ago but never got it. I also have type 1 diabetes and have had a bad gastric bug for the last week with severe diarrohea. Could having the severe diarrhea affect me getting my period. Im getting really worried.
