Does Having Sex While On Birth Control Pill Cause Pregnancy?
I started my period on January 9 and it ended on January 12. I started my birth control pill back up again on January 13 and then had unprotected sex on January 16 and then took the morning after pill within 10 hours and still have been taking birth control since January 13. Is it likely that I could be pregnant? Should I consult a doctor?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern... No having sex while on birth control pill does not cause pregnancy. Only pregnancy chance is there if you miss one or more pills in between which you haven't done. As you have started taking birth control pills on jan 13 & had sex on 16th of jan, Taking morning after pill was not needed to prevent pregnancy. Morning after pill should be used only in case of emergency like condom break, missing your birth control pills, etc. The morning after pill has high side effects comparable to other method of contraception. Regular birth control pill are very effective method of contraception (99.9% successful) if taken regularly at same time of day continuously for 21 days followed by a 7 day break. In future i would not suggest you taking morning after pill.
Don't worry you would be fine Hope this information helps
