Does Having Sex With Person Having Genital Warts Cause Definite Infection?

My partner has got genital warts, I was reading about them on the NHS website in england, it says signs can take up to a year to show, her own doctor told her she got recently from unprotected sex and I am not showing signs but we have had unprotected sex I need advice on what to do?

Thank you for query.Warts can spread form skin to skin contact or as std.but not all touch and contacts can transmit.it depends on duration of contact the viral load which has come in contact and inserted and the immune status of person.also as you said incubation period of warts can vary from months to year.daily self examination in search of any lesions .Treat the partner for warts.Consult doctor if any.You can get back directly to me for any clarifications with the photos.Dr Bharatesh D Basti Dermatologist and Venereologist.
