Does Heavy Bleeding After Taking Cytotec During Pregnancy Indicate Abortion?

Good evening, my fiancee did a pregnancy test and it was positive she was/is app. 4wks. due to our careers we could not go through with the pregnancy at this time. Cytotec was taken app. 600mg there was very heavy bleeding for roughly 5-7 hrs and then it stopped. The question is has the process been completed or is she still pregnant ?

Hi
Dr. Purushottam welcomes you to HCM virtual clinic.
I have gone through your query.
I think I have understood your concern, I will try to suggest you the best possible treatment options.
1] It seems she has taken it as self medication.
2] Usually when one opts for medical abortion, it should be supervised by registered gynecologist.
3] Procedure includes Tab MIFEGEST 200mg , followed by Tab MISOPROST 600 mcg after 48 hours. A suitable course of antibiotics is to be taken.
4] If at all this is not followed by her, get USG done; to know completeness of the abortion.
5] Try to have habit of some kind of contraception, as you do not want to have pregnancy as of now.
I hope my answer helps you.
Thanks.
