Does Herpes Spread Even Though There Is No Skin Contact?

I think I have herpes. I was married for 10 years and he never got it. I was with someone for 3 years and he never got it. A dr told me it was just irritation. I get 'irritated' once maybe 2xs a year. I had sex with my bf while irritated. I know he or his penis never touched the irritated part. Can he get it with no skin to skin contact?

thank you for query.herpes simplex virus infection can be transmitted by sexual or skin to skin contact or by kiss also.Usually transmission occurs if active lesion are present.rarely even if asymptomatic lesions can transmit Herpes.So condoms always need not protect against herpes.
