Does High Biotin Dosage Cause Excessive Hair Loss?

I was on 10,000 units of Biotin and was doing fine. My second dermatologist said that much could lead to Graves disease, so I cut back to 5,000 daily. Within a month my hair started to really fall out, and continues to thin out! How can I get it to stop and maybe start growing back in? Is it really dangerous to take a lot of Biotin and if I started taking 10,000 again, would my hair grow back in?

Hello dear , welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your question and here is my advice.
Anyone aged 10 or older should get between 30 and 100 mcg per day.
Biotin is usually safe, even in larger-than-recommended doses.
