Does High Blood Sugar Levels With A Heart Condition Need ER Admission?
My blood sugar was tested yesterday morning before having anything to eat, but a little soda & it was 388. I have not had my sugar checked before then so I ve not yet been diagnosed with being diabetic. I went and bought a monitor to check it. Yesterday I checked it before and after I ate dinner, it went from 270 to 254. This morning it was 260 upon waking up. Then after eating breakfast it shot up to 444. Do I need to go to the ER if I feel okay? I also have a heart condition, I had the Ross procedure - valve replacement in 1997. I m 27 years old today. Thanks!
Hello welcome to HCM. I have read your question and understand your concerns. Your blood sugar levels are very high at present. You should get admitted in hospital so that doctor can decide your insulin dosage and also do all routine check up.
1.At young age it's usually type 1 diabetes which is insulin dependent. But it's not necessary. Just ask your doctor to do serum C - peptide levels in Early morning. Your doctor will explain the results.
2.At present you definitely required insulin under expert treatment. So better you get admitted and do your HBA1c report also which is a 3 monthly average blood sugar levels.
3.Strict diet control and regular daily walking is necessary in Longterm in diabetes. Thank you. GET ADMITTED ON PRIORITY BASIS.
