Does High Stress Cause High Blood Pressure?

I am overweight and have recently had some high blood pressure readings. A routine ecg has resulted in me being called in but only for a 'routine' appointment. I have been under a lot of stress for a fairly prolonged period and wondered if this might be causing symptoms like this. Trying not to be a worried well

Stress for sure increases blood pressure readings. This is
so because when you are stressed up, there are a lot of
hormones that are being secreted including epinephrine
and norepinephrine which will cause vasoconstriction and
increase heart rate thus increase blood pressure.

the other risk factor you have is the overweight. reducing
your weight will improve on your blood pressure values greatly.

Stop worrying and being stressed up, reduce weight and regularly
control your blood pressure. If persistently above 139/89mmHg,
you will need to see a doctor.
