Does Hypothyroidism Cause Swelling And Heaviness In Feet?
Hi Doctor, I am a 57 year old female, 115 pounds, very active, Is it a concern that as soon as I get up from laying down even for very short periods of time, it is painful to walk on my feet. They feel swollen or something. Everything else is fine. I can swim the length of a pool several times in a swim and excercise frequently during the day. I have had hypothyroidism in the past but have not needed medication when I last saw my doctor. Should I get that checked again...I will anyway...but do you think that s what could be causing it. I just made a huge move across the country too. My budget is pretty drained.
According to your symptoms in addition to Thyroid profile you should test for serum calcium levels, serum potassium levels, serum vitamin D3 levels and serum electrolytes. With these results, your diagnosis will be much clearer.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
