Does Implanon Lead To Yeast Infections?

I've had implanon in for a little over a year and I've had excessive yeast infections and foul odor. I've never had problems like this before the program. Also, after my daughters birth the Dr left a lap towel inside me for two months. What's wrong with me?!

Hello,
I have gone through your query and understood the concern. If you developed the infection, as you said, after getting the implant, some possibilities exist. Though there are no studies yet on the relation between bacterial vaginoses and the Implanon, with Depo-Provera it has been shown that hydrogen peroxide producing bacteria are reduced in six months of use; also, thinning of the vaginal lining can raise the pH from acidic to alkaline thus increasing the tendency to infections. Also, the history of left over material after child birth suggests that could have served as a harbor of infection. Please get an elaborate investigation by a gynecologist, get swabs for culture, urinalysis and blood sugar levels tested. Partner assessment also is needed for prevention in future. Hope your query has been answered. Take care.
