Does Induced Coma Help To Avoid Seizures And Having Toxins In Brain?

Hi, my uncle has been in hospital for 5 weeks now and has got worse over the past week. He has Cirrhosis of the liver due to alcohol. He has been through all the stages of confusion etc and the toxins are going to his brain. At present he is having seizures and i was just wondering, do you think an induced coma would help? or is it dangerous?
