wife is 35 weeks pregnant. purchased a new dryer over the weekend and electrical cord was apparently defective....laundry room and basement have a smell of burnt rubber from the power cord. will inhaling smell of burnt rubber intermittently over the course of 2-3 days cause any harm to the baby?
Though inhaling fumes from burning plastic and rubber may contain harmful chemicals such as hexachlorobenzene, can harm a fetus and cause liver and kidney damage, according to the Environmental Protection Agency, the fumes inhaled by you seem to be very less in amount and not a serious risk.
The inhaling of fumes is considered bad especially if there is a lot of plastic or rubber burning around. Please do not worry about it and your baby is safe.
