Does Intake Of Amitriptyline Cause False Positive Results In Drug Test?

Hi there.I am going for a pre employment medical on Friday, and I am currently taking prescribed amytriptiline 50mg per night. Can I ask if this would show up and if so what should I do in this case? It is my understanding that as this is prescribed medication it would be safe, however I am afraid as after investigating this online I have identified that this drug may be mistook for LSD? Thanks Craig

Hello,

Long term consumption of Amitriptyline is definitely going to show up on blood level test at the employment protocols. Even though it is prescription drug, when drug test matters, it has to be evaluated with multiple parameters. Kindly discuss the same with your treating physician for the same.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
