Does Intake Of Aptiom Cause Fluid Retention In Body?

Does aptiom cause fluid retention. I am already on Prednisone for PMR. My doctor is considering changing me to Vimpat. I have a small, non maligmant brain tumor that affects my balance and hearing. I have A-fib but am in normal rhythm. I had pancreatitis in 2010. I want to be on the safest drug to prevent another seizure. I had my first and only seizure March 3, 2016. I am 75 years old. What would be the best medication for me?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Aptiom may rarely cause swelling of legs, feet, and face, so you may be having fluid retention due to its use. Prednisone, on the other hand, may cause fluid retention as well, and even more often than Aptiom.

It is important that you do strictly follow the instructions of your doctor and let your doctor know soon of any potential side effects that you may develop so the doctor can further decide which would be the best management in your case.

I hope this answers your query.
I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.

Regards,
