Does Intake Of Champix Pill Reduce The Effects Of Birth Control Pills?

I have been taking the pill first thing in the morning and straight after a champix pill with a glass of water. I should be having my period because I am on the sugar pills but I don t have any blood. Do you think champix has taken away the power of the pill?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Most people on Champix do not have side effects. The most common side effect is nausea, which affects about 3 out of 10 people.

Champix shouldn't affect the efficacy or safety of your birth control, but be sure your prescribing doctor knows you are on oral contraceptives.

You should wait for a couple of days for your periods to start and I can assure you it can not affect the efficacy of your birth control pill.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Prabhash Verma,
