I am taking Cipro for a UTI. I have 2 pills left of a 6 day prescription. (2 a day) I have developed a cough. nothing else in all the meds I take has changed. (I have Parkinsons, hi blood pressure, 2 stents ) can the Cipro cause a cough? I do not feel like I am getting sick.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi welcome to health care magic...

The common side effect of ciprofloxacin can be diarrhea or arthralgia..

Cough due to ciprofloxacin is very uncommon...

If severe cough occurs or cough if continued after drug completion than further work up is needed....

Auscultation can be done for look for any abnormality if present...

If cough wet with fever than chest x ray needed

Do follow up consultation to your treating physician for examination

Take care
