Does Intake Of Citalopram Help In Treating Anxiety?

Hi I was on citalopram 40 mg for years, I was told to stop and start taking sertraline 100 mg instead. My mood and anxiety got a lot worse within a week and a different Dr put me back on citalopram 20 mg daily for a week then I ve to increase back to 40 mg. will I feel better? I m 40 yrs old, female, 9 St and 5 ft 8.5 inches.

Hello,

Citalopram has far better anxiolytic action against Sertaline which serves better as anti-depressant medication. Once you return back to your previous dose of 40 mg (to which your GABA receptors are adapted), you will feel the previous results within short span of time period.
