Does Intake Of Escitalopram Help In Treating PTSD?

I have taken Escitalopram 5mg for 6 days and I feel WORSE than I did not taking it. Should I continue taking it or try something else? My problem is that I denied serious traumas most of my life and just worked on the solutions with a smile. i.e. daughter s suicide; and at age 30 my husband and I were hit by a drunk driver and each had serious brain injuries. I took my husband home as a vegetable and taught him to walk & talk although doctors would not help me (in 1976-79). Now I m feeling those tauma feelings (which I cannot identify) and I was prescribed the above drug.
