Does Intake Of Flucloxacilin Cause Any Side Effects During Conception?
Hi.I have recently discovered i m 4 weeks pregnant, I was on a course of Flucloxacillin for a Staph infection when I conceived (x3 a day for two weeks then x2 a day for 2 weeks). I immediately stopped taking them (week 3 - 2 a day) when I found out I was pregnant but I m worried about the possible affects if any on the embryo. My research suggests it s safe but i d love some advice please.Cheers Jo
Hi & Welcome to HCM. I appreciate your concern for the safety of Flucloxacillin during pregnancy.
There is nothing to worry about its safety during conception.
There are no documented harmful effects when Flucloxacillin is used during pregnancy.
Continue to take iron and folic acid as a part of ante natal checkup, have periodic ultrasound scanning as advised by your obstetrician from time to time to detect if any changes (which are unlikely) in the growing fetus.
Hope to have answered your query. Best regards.
