Does Intake Of Lisinopril For Hypertension Have Any Side Effects?

Hello, I am over 65, a white female, and just stopped my hypertension medicine because my ankles and feet swelled intensely. My Dr. prescribed a new one ( had a strong reaction from this one before) Lisinopril. I have not begun the new RX as my swelling is almost gone and I feel much better. Am checking out books today from library on diets, exercises, etc. Don t want to take RX. Am former fashion model, have shown horses, work in a flower shop (very physical lifting, etc.). Also hve a few varicose veins on left ankle. Any advice? Want alternative diet, vitamin, and exercise solutions. Take Sr multivitamin, and Ocuvite for my eyes. Appreciate your input. Thanks.

Hi dear. I am your physician, having a vast years long experience in the field of General Surgery, psychiatry, Radiotherapy, OB/GYN, Internal Medicine, Ottorhinolaryngology and Nutrition and weight loss, and Pain Management. I have carefully gone through your case and in my expert opinion you should NEVER USE LISINOPRIL IF IT HAD A REACTION BEFORE. I am amazed how your physician prescribed a potential allergen to you. Lisinopril has many side effects but if your Dr. prescribes he knows the benefits overweigh the side effects.
WARNING: prevent either pregnancy or Lisinopril.its contraindicated in pregnancy.harms baby. Not for your case I am sure(smiles)
Dizziness, Headache, tiredness, dry cough, fainting,muscle weakness,slow irregular heart beats, change in amount of urine, liver problems e.g yellow eyes and skin, dark urine, nausea vomiting that persists.
Now what to do:- thats best to reduce BP with diet and exercise but I am unsure of the probability that at this age when its all set for High BP, one can reduce BP by leaving medical treatment. BP can only be lowered not Cured. So keep an eye on daily readings of BP. and consult your physician to start alternative medicine for BP e.g HCTZ FUROSEMIDE etc.
Dont leave medicines. Start a different one by proper consultation to avoid serious Cardiac and /or kidney issues.
