Does Intake Of Lyrica Help In Curing Trigeminal Neuralgia?

Hi doctor, I am 75 and have been diagnosed withTN I am taking Lyrica 75mg and Gantin 300mg three times a day I am on a 1 month trial and if this fails he suggests 1 week in hospital do an infusion with Ketamine which scares me a lot. Is there any other option. thank you mary

Hi,

Yes, Lyrica or Gantin are equally effective in the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia.

If you do not get relief from these medications I would suggest carbamazepine alone or with baclofen.

Botox injections may be useful in refractory cases who are no longer helped by medications.
