Does Intake Of Meprate 10mg Have Any Major Side Effects?
DR, MY WIFE HAS BEEN ADVISED TO TAKE MEPRATE 10 Mg one tablet in the night. SHE IS VERY MUCH AFRAID TO TAKE THE MEDICINE. SHE IS TO START THE MEDCICENE FROM 15.4.2015. Is the side effects are potentailly dangerous since i notice that brain hameroge is one of the side effects. Kindly advice whether i can take this medicen or go for other form of treatement like ayuervedha or homeopathy. please treat this as urgent. MURTHY

There are different side effects:
1.Rarely -breast tenderness and leakage of liquid from them.
2.Skin reactions, including hives, acne, hair growth and hair loss, also have been reported occasionally.
3.Break-through bleeding (menstrual-like bleeding in the middle of the menstrual cycle), vaginal spotting of blood, changes in menstrual flow.
4. Weight changes(increased or decreased).
5.Others-nausea, fever, insomnia, and jaundice have all been reported.
6.Blood clots. Cigarette smokers are at a higher risk.
7.Diabetic patients may experience difficulty controlling blood glucose.Therefore, check blood sugar and adjustment of medications for diabetes is recommend.
8.Increased risk of heart attacks, stroke, breast cancer, blood clots, and pulmonary emboli in postmenopausal women (50-79 years old)
9. Although medroxyprogesterone alone has not been demonstrated to promote breast cancer, since breast cancer has progesterone receptors, physicians usually avoid using progestins in women who have had breast cancer.
