Does Intake Of Micardis And Lipanthyl Cause Elevation In Liver Enzymes?

Hi, my brother has hypertention 150/98mmHg with microalbumin in urine 30mg, no diabetes. He also have lipidemia disorder and HbsAg +. Liver enzym good. He was prescribed Lypanthyl 200mg/24h and Micardis 40mg/24h. After 4wks he checked AST and ALT were good. He is continue taken the above medications. After 5months he checked again AST 153 and ALT 200. His blood pressure is good 120/80mmHg, LDL, Tryglyceride, total cholesterol are normal but HDL still low 1,1 mmol/L. My question is does he need to stop Lypanthyl and Micardis due to augementation of AST/ALT (4times of normal). ? In this cacse liver enzym increased because of Lypanthyl or Micardis.? Thanks very much for your help

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Fibrate treatment lead to improvements in LFT, the greatest benefit seen in patients with higher baseline LFT values.Baseline and changes in lipid values post fibrate treatment were not associated with change in LFT.
SIDE EFFECTS OF MICARDIS ARE Dizziness or lightheadedness may occur as your body adjusts to the medication. If either of these effects persists or worsens, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly. To reduce the risk of dizziness and lightheadedness, get up slowly when rising from a sitting or lying position.Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.Tell your doctor right away if you have any serious side effects, including: fainting, unusual change in the amount of urine, symptoms of a high potassium blood level (such as muscle weakness, slow/irregular heartbeat).
So liver enzym increased is not because of Lypanthyl or Micardis.?
