Does Intake Of Novocaine Cause Swelling In Neck Glands?
I went to the dentist two days ago. I had four shots of novacain. I am three weeks out from parathyroid surgery and everything was healing and coming along very well. I have had burning and swelling in the incision area and also the neck glands since the dental work. Can novacaine make your neck glands swollen?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain swelling of neck glands and incision area after dental work can be most probably be due to spreading of infection from the site of infection leading to swollen lymph nodes.. You might be advised oral and injectable antibiotics along with anti-inflammatory painkillers to reduce infection and swelling..
I would suggest you to consult your treating dentist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly..
As of now you can take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen or Naproxen for reducing pain and inflammation as well as swelling.. Do cool compresses over the swelling..
Hope this information helps..
Regards
