Does Intake Of Pepsid Be Safe To Treat The Result From This Endoscopy?

I m a 66 yo femal who has been on Nexium for about 9 years for GERD. For several months, it seems ineffective and I have chest pain, heartburn, belching and generally don t feel well. Two days following surgery for my arm in January, I had a very sore throat then an incident of severe chest pain, could only take small breaths, etc and went to ER. It was attributed to a reaction from the anesthesia tube in my throat. My recent endoscopy results say I have a ring in the gastroesophageal junction; small hiatal hernia; erythema and consgestion, thickened folds in the antrum compatible with gastritis. My gastroentrologist told me to supplement with a Pepsid AC at night and I notice no difference.
