Does Intake Of Postinor 2 Cause Delayed Periods?

Hi.. I had unprotected sex on Thursday (14/5) and taking Postinor2 on the Saturday (16/5).. Due to being worried that i could get pregnant, i did took second Postinor2 on Sunday and feel slight cramps on lower part of stomach.. Will it cause my period to delay longer? Btw, i do have abnormal menstrual cycle where i do not have period up to 4 months.. Please help. thank you.

Hi,

Postinor 2 is a hormonal preparation and prevents pregnancy by postponing ovulation. After taking Postinor, little bleeding occurs after a week of taking the pill. This indicates withdrawal of medicine from your system. The regular menstruation is delayed by 8 days (as the ovulation is postponed). You had taken two pills of Postinor in two consecutive days that would cause irregular menses for two coming months. During these days you should use barrier contraceptive for contraception. Visit your gynecologist when you get your menstruation for further management.
