Does Intake Of Pravastatin Cause Episodes Of Aphasia, Memory Loss And Confusions?

My 83 yo Mother has been taking Pravastatin 10mg daily for close to a year now. She has been having increased episodes of aphasia like symptoms in addition to total memory loss and confusion during this time. The longest episode so far has only lasted several hours but resulted in an ER visit. They performed CT scan, EKG, bloodwork, and a Doppler which all showed no abnormalities. Couuld these symptoms possibly be related to this medication? reply to YYYY@YYYY Thank you

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Pravastain can cause confusion and memory impairment in some persons so it is possible that it is playing a role in the symptoms that you are describing.
If this is the case, then discontinuation may possibly cause a change in her presentation.

It is also possible that she is developing alzheimers which may not necessarily show changes on imaging.
Her mental status would need to be monitored by questionnaires and she may need medication to slow down the progression of her symptoms.

I hope this helps
