Does Intake Of Prednisone Cause Metallic Taste In Mouth And Blisters On Tongue?

Hi, i am on 30 mg of Prednisone for high elevated liver enzymes. I will taper the Prednisone within a 7 week period. My question is...i have a metallic taste in my mouth along with a sore throat and tiny blisters on my tongue. Does this have anything to do with the Prednisone?. Thank you.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern....

As per your complain a metallic taste in mouth along with sore throat and blisters in mouth is due to side effect of Prednisone..
The Prednisone is a steroid and it reduces the immunity of the body and it can lead to increased activity of bacteria leading to throat infection[sore throat], ulcers are also due to either infection caused by virus [herpes] or it can also be due to inflammation of the mucous membranes..
There is also more of acid reflux and it can lead to ulceration in mouth as well as sore throat and foul taste can also be due to it..

You should consult your treating physician and get evaluated and in case if possible reduction in the dose of medicine can help in reducing the symptoms..

You should maintain a good oral hygeine and do warm saline gargles..
If you are also experiencing heart burn then PANTOPRAZOLE 40mg twice a day can be advised by your physician..
