Does Intake Of Synthroid Cause Excessive Sweating?

15 years ago I was diagnosed with an over active thyroid. I was given radioactive iodine to stop it all together. I now take synthroid, and have regular blood test, but right now I m experiencing profuse sweating and very tired. Could this be that my tsh is low?

Hi,

Synthroid contains levothyroxine that is used in the treatment of hypothyroidism which may be resulted from naturally or injury to the thyroid gland due to radiation or surgery. Due to therapeutic over dosage, side effects associated with Synthroid are adverse effects of hyperthyroidism such as excessive sweating, unusual tiredness and weakness, heat intolerance, fatigue, fever, headache, diarrhea, increased appetite, weight loss etc.

In case of hyperthyroidism, thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) will be decreased or thyroid hormones like T3, T4 will be increased. So, you should undergo thyroid function test and consult your doctor for dosage adjustment as well as further evaluation.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
