Does Intake Of Valparin Chrono Cause Swelling And Small Eruptions On Face Of A Child?

my child 8 yrs is on valporin chrono 300 twice daily for the last six months . Now for about a week his face is slightly swollen and small eruptions (2-3) are there on his face. is this due to the drug or some other reason. he had only one epileptic seizure in Oct 2014. Till now no seizures. If I can stop the medicine.

Hello dear user, thanks for consulting Healthcaremagic and sharing your concerns, Valparinn Chrono-300 is an anti epileptic drug that can produce several side effects such as liver dysfunctions, nausea, gastric pain, hair-loss, weight gain, hearing loss, fine postural tremor, anemia and much more.
Remenber not all side effects for Valparinn Chrono-300 may be reported, I think that your child symptoms (swelling and rash) are due to some rare vasculitis ( it's described in this drug ) your doctor may also be able to tell you about ways to reduce or prevent some of these side effects ( decrease dosage or use a similar drugs) anyway the potencial benefit of Valparinn Chrono-300 should be weighed against the risk of undesirable effects.
