Does Intense Mood Swings Indicate ADHD, Untreated BMD Or Both?

I am a 21 year old female. I have been taking adderall to manage ADHD since I was 16, but the diagnostic process was haphazard as it was just my mother and I filling out forms and a few questions by a psychiatrist. I have really intense mood swings when I am on my medication or not and I am wondering how to decipher between ADHD or untreated BMD or whether or not it is both.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Intense mood swings do not indicate the definite presence of ADHD or untreated BMD. There can be one type of personality or mood disorder itself and the same should be evaluated with an expert psychiatrist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Purva Patel, General & Family Physician
